Join our team as a Sales Manager! This is a hybrid role being onsite in Maple Plain, MN on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
As a Sales Manager at Protolabs, you’ll lead a high‑performing sales and account management team at the forefront of digital manufacturing. This role is all about driving growth—developing talent, accelerating revenue, and expanding customer relationships in a fast‑moving, innovative environment. You’ll set the direction, coach and inspire your team, and turn strategy into action to maximize profitability while deepening partnerships across our customer base. You Will

Drive results: Lead and motivate a team of Account Managers to consistently meet and exceed revenue goals, key performance metrics, and growth targets.

Own the growth strategy: Design and execute revenue‑optimization plans that expand wallet share, strengthen customer loyalty, and unlock new opportunities within the existing customer base.

Develop top talent: Build a high‑performing sales organization by coaching, mentoring, and developing Account Managers through clear expectations, feedback, and career growth plans.

Maximize retention and expansion: Partner with Account Managers to create actionable account plans that protect core revenue while accelerating upsell and cross‑sell opportunities.

Shape the go‑to‑market approach: Collaborate closely with Product Management, Marketing, and senior business leaders to create and execute compelling, customer‑focused go‑to‑market strategies.

Elevate sales productivity: Work cross‑functionally to introduce and refine new selling motions, tools, and processes that continuously improve sales effectiveness.

Coach with purpose: Conduct impactful weekly one‑on‑one performance reviews to track metrics, reinforce best practices, and proactively address challenges.

Be a trusted advisor to leadership: Deliver timely, data‑driven insights and recommendations to senior management on team performance and business trends.

Enable winning deals: Support Account Managers in crafting powerful proposals, presentations, and customer engagements that drive deal success.

Build the team: Recruit, assess, and onboard top Account Management talent aligned to Protolabs’ standards and growth vision.

Lead by example: Champion company initiatives, strategies, and platforms, ensuring adoption and consistent execution across the team.

Operate with integrity: Uphold and reinforce company policies, procedures, and ethical standards in everything the team does.

Adapt and grow: Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the evolving needs of the business.
What It Takes
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and hands‑on experience that demonstrates your readiness to lead.
- 3+ years of sales account management leadership experience, managing a quota‑carrying team of sales representatives and driving consistent performance.
- A track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals, with clear examples of revenue growth and quota achievement.
- Confident, motivating leadership skills with the ability to coach, inspire, and hold teams accountable for results.
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to build trust and influence effectively across all levels of an organization.
- Excellent presentation and storytelling abilities, whether meeting face‑to‑face, presenting virtually, or engaging over the phone.
- Demonstrated success in resolving conflicts and navigating challenging conversations with professionalism and empathy.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment.

Actual pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors which may include, without limitation, job function, work experience, specialized skills, training, education, and certifications.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate.
